Over Three Decades of Experience

state: Tutoring Request.
I tutor, edit, and consult using old fashioned, time-honored methods and tools that teachers successfully and collectively used until the mid-20th Century. If I discern that a student has a processing or other issue, which I am unable to address, I will communicate that information with the parent who will then need to seek professional help for the issue.
I have consulted with students on all types of essays. In so doing, they've successfully met their goals in high school, higher education admissions and class work, and scholarships, as well as thesis papers for work beyond a four-year degree and career admissions.
My former students attend universities around the globe, and are successful in a plethora of careers.
For all services, I provide an initial, one hour or under consultation, at no charge. On request, I will provide my current resume and references.
CONSULTING, EDITING, & PROOFING FOR A VARIETY OF ESSAYS for all ages, including but not limited to college admissions, scholarships, and thesis papers
For teens and adults, this work is usually done via email and phone. In the past, I have performed this work for people across the U.S.
The writer takes all responsibility for making sure his/her work is not plagiarized.
For those 18 and under, any in-person meetings must include one parent who is visible and present at all times.
TUTORING all ages in numerous subjects, including but not limited to English composition, and phonetic reading/spelling (Using Romalda Spalding's Writing Road to Reading)
In the past, I have successfully tutored all ages, including adults, and students who were labeled never able to learn.
Tutoring may take place in the student's Indigo Lake Estates home, or at the Magnolia, TX, library.
For students ages 18 and under, all in-person sessions must include one parent who is visibly within reach, and present at all times. If not, the session immediately ends.
TESTING:
Before teaching phonetic reading, no matter the student's age, I test for the ability to phonetically decode the English language. Testing usually requires approximately one or more hours, depending on the student.
I use two old-fashioned, traditional testing instruments: The Blumenfeld Oral Reading Assessment Test, and The National Right to Read Foundation's Reading Competency Test. The results tell the grade at which a student is able to phonetically decode the English language, and whether a student's reading level falls into Instructional or Independent Reader.
PRICING
PHONETIC READING TEST PRICING: I charge $40 for any time from 30 minutes to one hour. I charge $30 for any time under 30 minutes. Payment is due on the day of testing.

Any time under 30 minutes is billed at $35.

TESTIMONIALS FROM CAROL'S FORMER STUDENTS AND PARENTS
"My high school student was struggling with writing research papers. Carol Bond taught many complex steps, on how to write a great research paper, in a simple, systematic manner. When my student entered college, she was able to write numerous papers without struggling, and always made an A on each paper, no matter the subject. Carol had a positive, motivating impact on my daughter's life which has lasted over a decade."

"Carol Bond tutored my two daughters for four years. Her knowledge is vast and her passion to teach is impeccable. She worked with my younger daughter, starting from phonics to writing composition. She taught my older daughter how to write a focused and well researched paper. Her ability to connect with her students and teach the simplest concept, to complex writing, is impressive. She also encouraged my children to read history books, and helped them develop a love of reading. Also, Carol was very helpful with my cousin, who was working on a medical school admission personal statement."

"Carol Bond pushes her students to achieve their highest potential without making them feel defeated. She coaches with kindness and is incredibly knowledgeable about writing essays, grammar, history, and government. She was the only teacher who pushed me to become proficient in writing essays, which greatly benefitted me during college. However, the skills I learned in her class also include life skills such as perseverance, critical thinking, and healthy skepticism. I highly recommend Carol."

"Carol Bond was my history and English composition teacher throughout my high school years. She not only taught me how to write effectively, but she also taught me how to think for myself. Carol instilled in me a love for writing that shaped who I am today, and impacted my future career. The skills she taught me are a priceless treasure."

"Carol is simply the best there is for writing and composition tutoring. I learned quickly and easily under her guidance and have applied the lessons she taught me over and over as my career progressed. I still reference many of her lessons in my scientific writings for publication. She is a pleasure to learn from and even after our lessons concluded she allowed multiple follow ups and "reminder" lessons via email. Applying the skills I learned under Carol I aced all of my writing/essay assignments in college and graduate school. I would not hesitate to sign up to Carols excellent tutoring! -Lauren White, Ph D, Systems Engineer for Earth and Mars, NASA JPL"
"We had the privilege of working with Carol for assistance with our son’s college essays, and the
experience was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, Carol demonstrated a high
level of expertise, professionalism, and dedication that set her apart. One of the things that impressed us was Carol’s personalized approach to tutoring. She took the time to understand his strengths (science and math), weaknesses (English and writing), and goals - tailoring her guidance to suit his specific needs. This individualized attention not only helped him improve his writing skills but also boosted his confidence in expressing his ideas effectively. Moreover, Carol understands the college application process and what admissions officers are looking for in an essay. Her insightful feedback and constructive criticism were instrumental in helping him refine his essays and highlight his strengths in a compelling way. Additionally, Carol was readily available to answer questions and provide support throughout the process. Her responsiveness and commitment motivated our son to put forth his best effort. He was able to craft essays that reflected his voice and experiences, ultimately leading to multiple successful college acceptances. The skills he learned and the confidence he gained really helped in his next four years of college classes."
